Key West Pie Producer Snags First Place Prize (as excepted from Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery)

The Key West Key Lime Pie Co. won first place for its Original Key Lime Pie Bar at the 2009 American Pie Council championships held in April in Orlando, Fla. The Pie Bar, which is a slice of the company’s handmade key lime pie dipped in chocolate and served on a stick, won in the Super Gourmet category for commercial bakers.   Last year, the Big Pine Key, Fla.-based pie producer won four blue ribbons.   It’s primary offering, Key Lime Pie, is made with 100% real key lime juice and sweetened condensed milk, ladled into a graham cracker crust and then topped with non-dairy whipped cream. Additionally, they are eggless, trans-fat free and can be thawed and refrozen multiple times.  Celebration, Florida: In a blind tasting for the “Super Gourmet” category for commercial bakers, the Key West Key Lime Pie Co. of Big Pine Key, Florida was awarded four (4) 1^st place ribbons for their handmade Key Lime Pies. The ribbons went for Traditional Key Lime Pie, Mango Key Lime Pie, Raspberry Key Lime Pie in a chocolate cookie crust & The Original Key Lime Pie Bar™, a slice of their handmade key lime dipped in chocolate served on a stick. 

All of their Key Lime Pies are made by hand with highest quality ingredients in their own production facility. That fact, explained to some of the judges after the awards, “is why you won” said the panel.
